Erectile Dysfunction drugs, ect type TV commercials, Why the "not a cure for an STD" disclaimer?
Whenever I see an ED RX drug commercial or any RX Drug commercial dealing with male genetailia sex libido there is a disclaimer saying something like " This does not cure or prevent AIDs or any other STD" .... Well no shit sherlock is what I say. Is this disclaimer really needed that bad? Are people really so dumb they need to be explicitly told this? I MUST be missing something here....
What do the disclaimers mean by "if you are pregnant or may become pregnant"?
At the end of commercials for medications, when they are reading the disclaimer and side effects etc, sometimes it says do not take if you are pregnant or may become pregnant. I don't really get the may become pregnant part of that, do they mean do not take if you are a woman and not menopausal?sorry, weird question, just always been curious.
Should Yahoo post a disclaimer for this category?
Looking through this topic, many of the questions require answers from professionals in the mental health field. While my fellow Yahoo answerers are well meaning, there is a real danger of providing misleading or downright dangerous answers.Short of closing the section down, I think Yahoo should post a prominent disclaimer stating that askers should seek professional advice. What do you think?
Why doesn't Yahoo show a disclaimer/caution notice here in regard to answers given about health and medicine?
So many people, especially women who are concerned they may be pregnant or have other health medical conditions, post questions here on Yahoo Answers, looking for genuine answers if not advice to their health matters and problems. But although a lot of people mean well here on Yahoo Answers, not all answers given by people are always genuine helpful as they can be misinformed, et cetera and I think it's always best particulary with serious if not urgent medical, health queries that persons arrange consultation with their doctor rather than resort to finding the answers on the internet. So shouldn't Yahoo Answers consider placing disclaimer or caution notices on here about what indeed may well be a better approach to getting answers on personal health matters offline, rather than risk any and usually unspecialised views responses online?
Did I eat healthy and exercise enough today (disclaimer: I am vegan)?
I feel like I ate too much...Breakfast soy yogurt, whole grain toast w 1 tbsp almond butterSnack 1 kashi granola bar and 1 tangerineLunch Salad w spinach, cucumber and bell pepper and a little bit of some asian noodle tofu dish like 1 2 cup , and a small handful of potato chipsDinner 1 tofurky sausage 270 cal , salad, a tiny bit of whole wheat pastaand a few chocolate covered espresso beansI also biked 15 miles in pretty hill y terrain. I had been doing so well with eating healthy and exercising but I feel like I failed today... I feel like I need to do a couple hundred sit ups or something... am I just being obsessive? The thought to make myself throw up has even crossed my mind... and this is not the first time I have considered it I am 17, 5'4" , 145 lbs and trying desperately to lose weight...
Alt med disclaimers legality?
I was intrigued by this questionuk.answers.yahoo.com question index?qid 20110305010204AAMGOUPI noticed one of the alties gave a very long answer which started " There are things you can do to help and that could have possibly took care of the problem at an earlier stage but at this point I'm not so sure. I'd suggest seeing a Naturopathic Doctor ND ..." then at the end came " Neither I or the author of the above referenced material is engaged in rendering professional advice or services to the reader. The ideas and suggestions stated in this post are not intended as a substitute for consulting with your physician." Surely the first statement was exactly doing what the disclaimer said not to do. Really the disclaimer means the advice is worth nothing and might as well just be " go and see a real medical doctor" Why bother with a disclaimer? Don't the alties have the courage of their convictions?
Would you agree the reason drug tv ads are now 90% disclaimer (may cause this...may cause that) is so?
when people get terribly ill from taking the drug......the drug company does not have to worry about being sued. Cuz the lawyers for the drug company will say, " Look here judge....our ads completely warned against this terrible side effect. So our hands are clean." Is this greed at the expense of health and lives?
